Privacy notice
Last updated 6 November 2026
MealPilot is run by Iraady Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom with an office in Kigali, Rwanda ("we"). You can reach us at hello@iraady.com about anything on this page. For your account and what you enter into MealPilot we decide how the data is used, so we are the controller.
What we collect
- Account: your name, email address, optional phone number, and a salted hash of your password. We never store the password itself.
- Household details: your country, how many adults and children you cook for, your diet, your weekly grocery budget, and any allergies or disliked foods you choose to enter. Allergies are health-related, so enter them only if you want MealPilot to avoid them. They are used only to plan and check meals.
- What you add: meal plans, shopping lists, pantry items and use-by dates, saved recipes, and the shopping amounts you record.
- People you invite: the invitation link carries no personal data. When someone joins, they can see the household's plans, lists, pantry and recipes, and their name and email.
- Security records: sign-in time, IP address and device type for active sessions, and a short log of important actions such as joining a household or deleting an account.
- On your phone: the app keeps a copy of your data on the device so it works offline. It asks permission before it sends you notifications. Pantry reminders are scheduled on the device itself.
We do not use advertising, tracking pixels or analytics cookies. We do not sell personal data. We do not collect precise location.
AI meal plans
When you ask for an AI-planned week, MealPilot sends a request to Amazon Web Services (Bedrock) containing your country, household size, diet, allergies, disliked foods, budget and the names of some pantry items. It does not send your name, email or any account identifier. The answer is checked again on our servers against your diet and allergies before you see it. AI can still make mistakes: always read ingredient labels.
Recipe links
When you paste a recipe link, our server visits that web page to read its recipe data. The website you point us to can see a visit from our server, not from you.
Why we use it
- To provide the service you signed up for: planning, lists, pantry and budget.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse (rate limits, sign-in checks).
- To answer your support questions and manage your plan.
Cookies
We set one cookie, a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary and is not used to track you.
Who it is shared with
- Hosting: our servers run on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Your data is processed there.
- AI: Amazon Web Services (Bedrock) for the AI meal plans described above.
- Payments: when online payment is switched on we will use Stripe. Until then no payment data is collected by MealPilot.
- We share data if the law requires it.
Because Iraady Ltd and its hosting are outside the EU and UK, we rely on the standard contractual protections our providers offer for transfers. Ask us if you want details.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, your sign-in and personal records are removed from the live database straight away. If you are the only person in the household, the household and everything in it is deleted too. A short security log without your name or email may be kept for up to 12 months.
Your rights
You can see and change your details in Settings and Household. You can delete your account yourself in the app (Settings, Delete my account) or on the web, or ask us by email and we will do it. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to object to processing, or to complain to your data protection authority (for example the ICO in the UK, or the Data Protection Commission in Ireland). Write to hello@iraady.com.
Children
MealPilot is for adults who plan meals for a household. You enter how many children you feed, but no information about named children. It is not meant to be used by children.
Changes
If we change this notice in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell signed-in users in the app.
